Perhaps, this is why according to the Bible, when most people were in grief or needed to be atoned with the Creator, they fasted. When used as a tool for dealing with depression, if combined with a powerful and faith driven prayer, fasting, my friends really unleashes the mental powers within us to solve our problems. It makes us come closer to our potential as true images of the Most High, and we can as a result see and think clearer as a step for a powerful and effective depression control method.

 

Fasting as a means of dealing with depression also greatly benefits one’s overall health as during its use, the digestive organs are given a rest. Moreover, the mind clears allowing for a disappearance of all moroseness. We re-discover peace of mind and tranquility and life’s difficulties are not as overwhelming.

 

So when problems seem to weigh in on us, when dealing with depression becomes an almost daily struggle for us, perhaps from all the indications above, the best thing to do will be to undertake a fast. It definitely won’t hurt and can help immensely.

Most people experience a general depression that is temporary, lasting only for a few days, weeks, or months, depending upon the source. For instance a situation of personal loss such as divorce or death can cause a general depression that can last for years if not dealt with.

This form of depression can occur from not knowing how to deal with life on an adult level, experiencing temporary set backs, or dealing with manipulative or pushy persons who leave one feeling helpless, unworthy and frustrated. General depression should be taken seriously and steps should be taken for healing to prevent further emotional distress.

There is also a clinical depression which is a serious medical illness that negatively affects how a person feels, their thought process, and their physical and mental functioning regarding daily life. For instance, clinical depression affects the body, moods, thoughts and behavior. It can change eating habits and dictate how one interacts with other people, including family. People with depression either state that they don’t feel like themselves any longer, or they will say there is nothing good about life in general and they can all but give up on life enjoyment.

As stated in my previous article about depression, sufferers must get help from a doctor they can trust. However, from the many situations I’ve witnessed, when some people only receive medical treatment, they tend to continue with medication therapies prescribed and counseling sessions without experiencing healing.

You probably think you’re doing everything you can to stay healthy: you get lots of sleep, exercise regularly and try to avoid fried foods. But you may be forgetting one important thing. Relax! Stress has a bigger impact on your health than you might realize.

- Fresh vegetables and fruits, raw or steamed

- Lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, and fish

- Whole grain carbohydrates such as breads and pasta.

- Beans, peas, and other lentils

- Low fat dairy products

- Avoid foods high in cholesterol or salt

- Keep well hydrated by drinking plenty of water

Nutritional supplements may also be a good idea. Talk to your doctor about which ones will be best for you.

The brain is made up of essential fatty acids, water, and other nutrients. These are nutrients that are also contained in foods we eat.
