Dealing with depression is very difficult if it is combined with addiction. Alcoholic and a drug addiction are very serious problems that make the depression more critical. If such patients are treated at the right time, they can recover soon. This article will help you know how to help these patients to come out of the illness.
Depression is a disease which makes you loose a sound mind and in the process, health too. The feeling of sadness that stays for more than three weeks is generally called depression. Sadness or low energy levels can occur because of the stressed out lifestyle too. So, people do neglect the first symptoms of this disease.
Here are few symptoms which indicate that you are a patient of depression. Helplessness is the major symptoms of depression. It is very high if the patient is a teenager. You may easily discover that the interest of participating in various activities is no more there and you get furious quickly.
Eating and sleeping habits do change extremely, so you notice a tremendous change in weight, appetite and sleeping hours. This disturbed state of mind and troubled schedule makes the person more upset.
All the above things may cause addictive habits. When the patient does not find any help to kill frustration, the possibility of addiction increases. When a patient cannot sleep for some weeks, he/she finds out the easiest way to kill frustration

Walking for health is a great way to reduce stress naturally. Most people today are familiar with what stress and anxiety feels like. When the body is stressed, it releases hormones that prepare you for a fight or flight response. As a result, your body gears up to deal with the stressor by quickening your pulse, raising your blood pressure, shortening your breath and clenching muscles.
While the flight or fight reaction may be helpful in dealing with certain stressful situations, in many instances there is to much pent up energy and few ways to release it. For instance, as you encounter traffic on your way to work you may feel anger or stress when another car cuts you off or traffic is backed up. But rarely do you have the opportunity to express the anger and stress that you feel. You sit in the car your stress levels building. As a result of being inhibited, these stress responses may do serious damage to the body in the long run, translating into high blood pressure, ulcers, headaches, depression, anxiety, and a host of other ailments.
Walking is an excellent way of releasing this energy. Walking for health leads to reduced stress and has a host of other benefits. When one walks, the cardiovascular system in the body; the part of the body that is responsible for distributing oxygen and circulating blood to all organs works better. Regular walking for health promotes better heart functioning and leads to a reduction in heart conditions like stroke, high blood pressure and build-up of bad cholesterol.
Over time and with regular walking for health, your body slowly starts converting fat into muscle, giving you a leaner, fitter body and reduced body weight (provided its combined with the right diet); your flexibility improves, and bone density improves which results in a reduced risk of osteoporosis. There is also evidence which shows that walking aids better digestion, reduces the risk of colon cancer and helps keep insulin in check.
Apart from this, endorphins, or happy hormones get released into your blood stream when you are walking for health. This gives you an elevated feeling of well-being. What

Like many of you, often times I get headaches and anxiety related to my long work days. Being a massage therapist I’ve figured out how to rid myself of much of these difficulties. In this article I show you 7 stress relief techniques at work or for college students for headaches & anxiety.
#1…Come to the center. While working, most of us get wound up. Our bodies and minds get frazzled and we meander into a state of too much polarity that often creates headaches and anxiety. That is when it is time to come back to the center. In the center is peace. It is not left. It is not right. It is not male, female, hot, cold, democrat or republican. In the center are Mother Nature, the universe and God. When you come to the center with body, mind and soul then you regenerate and give yourself the energy to press on. Coming to the center is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety. You also give yourself the ability to connect with creation thus allowing transmission/reception of energy to abound.
#2…Stop whatever you are doing and take a deep breath. Arch your back and roll your head and shoulders around. Visualize serenity. Concentrate on releasing… letting go. Put your hands together connecting left and right to create ONE. Now stand up and shake the arms and legs (Chi Gong) and flop them against the body while twisting. You are a rag doll and you are unscrewing the pent up energy residing within. Stopping and breathing is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety.
See my site for more great information: http://www.vitalitymassage.net
#3…The spiritual goal: You have no cares because you know that this life is just a test. Part of the test is to see how much FAITH you have. If you have faith then you are not afraid, you are not angry, you are not worried, you are not anxious about anything. You are smart enough to know that you have things to do in this life and that you need to take care of yourself by taking little CENTERING BREAKS throughout your day. The body is a tool for you to progress. Tools require regular maintenance. Connecting with spirit and having faith is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety.
#4…Think about getting soft and easy. Where is the tension? Rub out the tension with the hands and flick it away with the fingers. Breathe. Slide your fingers through your hair and back to the neck. Squeeze and roll. Stretch your facial muscles and rub your forehead, cheeks, nose, chin and ears. Oh my Jah. Now you are getting really unwound. Touch your toes and then reach for the sky. (Definitely do all this outside if it’s nice enough.) Do it again. Touch toes and reach for the sky several times. Dance if you like. Flow. You are an incredible manifestation of life energy! Getting soft and easy is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety.
#5…Understand that life is precious. Our Earth is a speck in the universe. To be a human being and have the opportunity to excel in a time of incredible transformation is a blessing and worth every moment of blissful relaxation possible! This “time out” will allow you to go back out, fire it up, and joyfully accomplish all that you need to do that day! Loving life is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety.
#6…Know that you deserve to release and replenish and then do it. Your body is like a rechargeable battery that needs to recharge regularly…not just at night but also in little intervals throughout the day. Being deserving is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety.
#7…Put your hands on your thighs and arch your back and shoulders. Now roll it over like a cat… hanging the arms way down. Do it again. Let it go. Maybe you have emotional issues that need to go too. If you are mad at something or somebody, take a deep breath and blow it out…visualizing the release of angry energy. Shake your body and hang… flopping the arms down to the ground. Now fall down and roll like you’re a dog in long grass. Twist and uncork. Stretch. Open the hands as wide as possible and then make fists. Tuck into a ball and squeeze the legs. Now let go and spread eagle arms and legs open to the sky. Point the toes and then flex them up to the body. Figure out as many of these techniques as you can on your own. Doing exercises is a great stress relief technique at work or for college students for headaches and anxiety.
There are so many ways to unwind the body and mind. Now you understand the basic nature of this important stress buster exercise. All you have to do is do it. Do it every day as often as necessary. Now that I’m done writing this article I’m going to do some myself! Yea!

More than ever, scientific research is attesting the primary role of stress in triggering or aggravating different psychological and physical afflictions. A headline from a 1983 Time Magazine labeled stress “The Epidemic of the Eighties.” The journalist also said that stress is our prominent health issue. Indeed one has to acknowledge that our world has become a lot more complicated and stressful in the last twenty-five years since that article was published. Numerous surveys indicate that most adults feel that they are subject to a lot of stress. Authorities in the field estimate that around 75 to 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians are for stress related issues. Most adults say their stress is for the most part due to their job. Stress levels have also increased in children as well as the senior population for reasons including: Peer pressures that often push people to everything from smoking to alcoholism and drug abuse; the wearing away of religion and family values; increased crime rates; threats to personal safety; but also social isolation and loneliness. Stress can cause and aggravate problems such as diabetes, ulcers, low back and neck pain, high blood pressure, strokes and heart attacks. This is due to the augmented sympathetic nervous system activity as well as a flood of cortisol, adrenaline, and other hormones. Chronic stress is corollary of lower immune system resistance. Stress can cause anxiety, depression, and its varied impacts on one’s organs. “Stress” is defined as follows by the American Heritage Dictionary: “To subject to physical or mental pressure, tension, or strain” The same dictionary defines “tension” as follows: “Mental, emotional, or nervous strain” The word “anxiety” is defined as follows: “A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties” And the following is the definition of “depression”: “The condition of feeling sad or despondent” The following definition is given for “clinical depression”: “A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death.” What we can be sure of is that our thoughts are the first cause of our experience of stress, anxiety and depression. To put it into different words, what we think about, and our attitudes and points of view about our experiences dictate what we feel. So if we can learn to change our thoughts, attitudes, and points of view, then we can get rid of our stress, anxiety, and depression and attain a more positive state of being. Since the beginning of time, people have tried methods for eliminating stress. The pharmaceutical industry seems to have a drug for everything. And to that end the industry has produced a large line of anxiolytics from Valium to Xanax. If you choose to use these pills for relief, please be sure to pay attention to the fine print and learn about the side effects, which commonly include addiction and dependency. Indeed these kinds of drugs aim at curing the symptoms, rather than the cause. So as soon as one stops taking them, the symptoms can return. A smarter way of eliminating tension, stress, anxiety, and depression is to try to cure the root cause, which as I wrote before, is most often our thought processes. There is good news. The basis of hypnosis is relaxation. The AMA recognized hypnosis in 1958 as an effective way to cure stress and stress related symptoms. However unlike pills, there are categorically no negative side effects. Hypnosis is the Alpha level of consciousness. It’s the daydream like temporary psychological mindset which we pass through as we are just about to fall asleep at night. And we pass through it again when we wake up again. There are many different ways that will help us guide ourselves into this condition of tranquility, from progressive relaxation to visual imagery to listening to hypnosis CD’s. Once we enter the hypnotic state, we are able to interact with our unconscious mind, which is the center of our emotions. And one can more easily accept new ideas and points of view which will help us to reduce anxiety, or even avoid it completely. Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP, which is a recent type of hypnosis, offers numerous really good methods for getting rid of stress. Maybe the most effective technique is called the “swish” pattern – or the “flash” pattern. After using this technique, your unconscious will automatically use bad, stress triggering mental images, to generate relaxation producing mental images. Otherwise stated, what generally makes you feel stress will now make you feel more relaxed! TO SUM UP Tension, stress, anxiety, and depression can be caused by our thoughts. So by changing our attitude and the way we perceive our situation and our experiences, we can reduce these feelings at the source. Hypnosis and NLP are natural tools that we can use to help us change our attitude and point of view to swiftly reduce the source of these negative feelings.

Depression, a serious mental problem that is disguised in several forms and it has been seen that at start the patient hides it with others. He or she does not share the inner feelings even with the persons who are very close to them like their life partners and parents. A person, who is suffering from this mental problem, should not hide his feelings from others because counseling is considered as one of the common treatments for depression.
Though it may not be able to cure the illness completely but it may open ways and rays of hope for the patient to heal to some extend. It will ease the burden of his mind and it is also possible that you can provide a better solution for him and if it is a mild case of depression then counseling and keeping the patient busy are some of the ideal tricks to tackle the problem effectively.
Doctors and psychiatrists also urge the patients to do counseling with those whom you feel comfort. Secondly, keeping the mind busy in lots of daily activities is also considered a good option. However, if just counseling is not providing much help to the patient or you feel that the person is suffering from the major depression then you need to take the appointment from a good psychiatrist immediately for the patients. He will identify the main cause and the severity of depression and will subscribe suitable medication and psychotherapy to the patient.
Give the patient medication regularly because it is possible that the patient may ignore or forget to take medications timely, this will not help you to seek the good positive results.

We live in a fast paced world and the opportunities for sitting down and meditating can be few and far between for a lot of us. So how can we relieve stress and anxiety in our daily lives without committing large amounts of our valuable time to meditation techniques?
Here’s a simple practice that can have instant effects on our inner calm and well being. This exercise can be used anywhere and at any time. Try it out next time you find yourself in a stressful situation.
Focus your attention on a spot directly in front of you just above eye level. Allow your focus to soften and allow yourself to blink whenever you need.
While you maintain this stare widen your field of vision becoming gradually more aware of the areas to either side of that point. Keep widening this field until you become aware of the areas that can be seen out of the corner of your eyes.
Increase this field of awareness using your hearing too.Notice as you become conscious of the space around you and even behind you.
You should now be aware of a complete field all around you using all your senses. Allow this awareness to spread as far as you can and hold it for as long as you can.
As you bring your attention into your body you should notice that your breathing has slowed considerably. If you now watch your thoughts you may well find that the barrage of self talk has slowed right down or even disappeared completely.
You may well find that this is a very effective stress management tool.

Depression is the word that is usually used to describe the times or periods of sadness and loneliness a person experiences in his life. It is not always very easy to discern the end of normal sorrow and the beginning of clinical depression symptoms. Now we may even feel more than the usual ongoing sadness.
An illness that is characterized by a cluster or group of feelings, behavior and thoughts completely different from the normal behavior of a person is called clinical illness. The feelings and action of a person during this disease will vary from the normal feelings. This is a result of many complex interactions of psychological, geological and other social elements. A major clinical depression can make a person seriously sensitive to the circumstances of life. They might even throw themselves to a state where they have total loss of hope.
During the major depression, the person becomes surrounded by sadness completely. They become hopeless, feel emptiness and helpless. This feeling will distort every thought of that particular individual. Such a condition can make them unworthy and hopeless. The person will also feel chronically irritable and will often explode in anger and rage. They will always be frustrated.
Sometimes a major depression can be triggered by a life event or situation. The mood reaction of a person will be much exaggerated. In some cases such depression happens as a onetime incident. But as in most cases it will be recurring. One major episode of clinical depression may extend up to 2 years even. They may also end up in a few minutes.

Studies have proved that women who have been abused in their childhood are likely to be sufferers of clinical depression compared to those who were not abused. The women who have been raped as adults or adolescents are more prone to depression. Since women are abused more than men as children, these reports are significant eye openers. Women who have undergone sexual harassment at job or physical abuse in their childhood are almost sure victims of depression. They will be suffering from sense of helplessness, low self esteem, social isolation and blaming oneself. Growing up in a dysfunctional family is also a cause of depression.
Poverty can be another factor of extreme depression. More than 75 % of the poor population in the US is composed of women and children. This low economic status brings them a lot of tension and stress including uncertainty, isolation, series of many negative events etc. They also lack social support.
The symptoms of male depression may be different from women’s depression and also the causes. Another cause of depression for women is called the “empty nest syndrome”. This arises when the children leave home ant they experience a huge loss of identity and purpose. With younger age groups, one factor of depression can be not getting married. Remaining unmarried for a long period after their friends and relatives of the same age being married can be very stressful. The women who experience a sudden loss of their husbands or children are also sure victims of depression.
However more than 90% of such cases of depression is a regular phenomenon and need not be treated. But less than 10 % do require attention.

Incontinence pants for women with stress incontinence have come a long way in the past decade. The awkward, bulky and undependable unisex garments of the past have been replaced with protective underwear made just for women, with comfort, security, and style in mind.
Literally millions of women of all ages experience some degree of stress incontinence, which is defined as the involuntary loss of small amounts of urine associated with certain activities such as laughing, sneezing, coughing, jogging, exercising, etc. While stress incontinence is particularly common in post-menopausal women, it can also be a problem for women who are pregnant or who have recently given birth.
Stress incontinence tends to be unpredictable, both in the actions that trigger it and the amount of urine released. Most women who experience stress incontinence have active lifestyles but need some form of protection at all times, which means comfort is particularly important.
For many years there were few options in protective underwear for women. Choices were largely limited to either using bulky unisex disposables or creating a “make-do” solution using ordinary panties and sanitary napkins. The commercial disposables were often ill-fitting, unattractive, and uncomfortable, and using sanitary pads simply didn’t provide secure, reliable protection.
However, the use of innovative new materials and an increasing focus on design have resulted in the development of a wide range of protective underwear for women with all levels of incontinence. Women can now find special waterproof underwear that will fit both their bodies and their lifestyles. Both disposable and reusable undergarments are available in a wide variety of shapes, styles, and designs created to fit well and look good while providing secure, leakproof protection.
Many women who experience stress incontinence find that modern stretch briefs or panties that incorporate a special pad can be an excellent choice. These garments look and feel almost exactly like ordinary underwear, but they provide secure protection against leaks and spotting. Made of lightweight, stretchy knit fabric, they are snug enough to hold the protective padding securely in place without feeling tight or restrictive.
Some styles stretch incontinence briefs for women have special padding built into the panties themselves, while other styles feature a special pocket to hold the pad. Using removeable disposable pads, most of which incorporate a moisture barrier layer to keep the briefs themselves dry, can be the ultimate in convenience and can make it feasible to be away from home for extended periods of time. The disposable pads can easily be slipped into a purse or briefcase and changed quickly and unobtrusively.
For additional protection, special waterproof pants can be worn over the brief-pad combo. Like the briefs themselves, waterproof pants have changed dramatically in recent years. Stiff, bulky plastic, vinyl, or rubber material has been replaced with soft, flexible composite material that is comfortable, fits much better, and resists cracking.
The combination of incontinence briefs, special padding, and waterproof outer pants can make even strenuous activity and extended wear periods both secure and comfortable.
Padded stretch briefs are only one of many options available to women who experience incontinence. A large selection of pads and liners make modern incontinence pants for women uniquely adaptable; find out more at Incontinence Pants – What you Need to Know Before You Buy.
